LOHRI was celebrated at SGGJ Girls College, Raikot in a traditional manner. College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Rajni Bala informed students about the significance of the festival and said that such festivals provide students with an opportunity to come closer to Indian culture.
The girls gathered around a bonfire and danced to the tunes of Punjabi songs. They also sang traditional Lohri songs and presented cultural items. They offered groundnuts, sesame seeds, ‘revari’ and many other edible items to fire to burn away all the evils. Dr. Jaspreet Kaur and Prof. Ms. Nidhi Mahant conducted the programme.
